Mom moved here at Maria's urging in 2007. She loves the Senior Center classes and doesn't miss the Chicago snow at all! Maria is a member of the Board of Directors for the Senior Center / Committee on Aging.

Our children's future is important to Maria Gutzeit. She has served for many years as a Science Fair Judge at Newhall Elementary and also Rancho Pico. She is also a participant in Rio Vista's Environmental Awareness and Career day. Maria worked with local high school students and Junior Achievement at their Connecting to Success program held at Grace Baptist church.

![]() Maria Gutzeit, volunteering for the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, has joined the City in promoting Bike to Work Day for several years. In 2005 she and Mayor Cameron Smyth and Roger Hasper of Newhall Bicycles rode to City Hall for the event.
A nationally ranked amateur competitive cyclist, Maria Gutzeit competed at Olympic Trials and National Championship events in the 1990's. She now serves as President of the Board of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) and works on improving bicycle safety and bicycle access for all cyclists in Los Angeles County. She was awarded the Chuck Witham Volunteer of the Year award by LACBC, and was instrumental in many of the road and trail improvements for cyclists in Santa Clarita. Additional Community Service:

| Maria Gutzeit first moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1988. Her husband Tom and pets Oz and Giro enjoy many local activities including gardening, cycling, hiking, and attending local theater and park events. | |
